Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below lists reserved time periods - not confirmed exams. Check with your instructor whether or not a course has its final exam in this time.
Make sure you read the Goethe exam conditions and guidelines on each exam's webpage prior to making a decision to register. Register for the correct level of the exam.
Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Please visit the exam pages for more details regarding exam topics, exam conditions and conditions, as well as additional guidelines. If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness, visual or hearing impairment, contact the exam provider directly and be sure to provide detailed documentation when you register.
Faculty can view their exam times by using the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. The Registrar's Office also has a list of exam times for the classes that must be tested under NYSED regulations. Final exams for evening classes are scheduled during the regular class time of the final examination weeks.

Registration
The exam schedule is available on the internet, and students are advised to review it. If a student is scheduled to take three tests on the same day, they should contact their instructor or department to schedule a retake test. It is possible to have three examinations on the same day. However, this could cause a lot of stress and affect the quality of the exam. The professor might not be able to give an opportunity to take a makeup test on a different day.
Students must review their course material before taking the exam and practice their German skills. The exam is a paper-based test that measures your ability to read, speak, and write German. The examination results are presented on a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the test receive an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate demonstrates the that they have achieved the level of A1 in their language. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competence set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free of charge. Students must bring a valid government issued ID to the test. Students who do not have a valid picture ID will be disqualified.
Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to obtain a Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you'll need to pay the exam fee. This is in addition to the cost of the course.
